RESILIAGE showcased at the 11th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference in Chile
The RESILIAGE project was proudly represented at the 11th UNESCO Global Geoparks Conference, held this year in Chile. This major international event gathered geoparks, researchers, and stakeholders from around the world to exchange knowledge on sustainable development, climate change, and community resilience.
As part of the project, three of our CORE Labs — Famenne-Ardenne UNESCO Global Geopark, Naturtejo UNESCO Global Geopark and the Natural History Museum of the University of Crete — presented RESILIAGE under the theme “Geoparks, Climate Change, Geo-hazards Risk Reduction and Public Awareness”. Their contribution highlighted how geoparks can serve as living laboratories for resilience, bridging science, local communities, and policy.
The event also provided a valuable opportunity for networking. Members of the RESILIAGE consortium met with three of the project’s CORE Associated Labs: Geopark Terras de Cavaleiros, Karawanken UNESCO Global Geopark and Geopark Volcán Tungurahua. These exchanges reinforced collaboration within the project’s growing network of geoparks and resilience actors worldwide.
By participating in this global gathering, RESILIAGE strengthened its visibility on the international stage and showcased its commitment to tackling climate-related risks through heritage-driven and community-centred approaches.
