Fostering resilience: RESILIAGE and SYNERGIES projects unite for enhanced Disaster Risk Management
A shared vision for resilience
The RESILIAGE project is dedicated to strengthening resilience at the community level by engaging local stakeholders and integrating local heritage in disaster resilience strategies. By establishing the CORE Labs, RESILIAGE enables multi-stakeholder collaboration, promoting inclusive and sustainable disaster preparedness.
Similarly, SYNERGIES builds on the outcomes of six earlier EU-funded DRM projects (ENGAGE, RESILOC, LINKS, IMPACT, BUILDERS and Ready2Help) to refine, integrate, and elevate best practices and tools for DRM. Its mission is to mature these existing tools and align them with practitioner experiences and real-world needs, making DRM more actionable and impactful.
Both projects operate on a shared vision: to empower communities, foster inclusive collaboration, and build resilience through strategic preparation and education.
Strengthening DRM through collaborations
By combining their unique strengths, RESILIAGE and SYNERGIES offer a more comprehensive approach to DRM. RESILIAGE’s community-driven, heritage-focused model aligns seamlessly with SYNERGIES’ mission to improve and adapt existing tools for practical, on-the-ground application. This collaboration will focus on several critical areas, including:
- Community involvement and empowerment: RESILIAGE’s CORE Labs provide a platform for citizens, policy-makers, and experts to collaborate. By joining forces with SYNERGIES, which emphasizes the importance of incorporating all DRM stakeholders, the partnership will bolster community involvement and strengthen disaster response frameworks.
- Educational initiatives and training: Together, the projects will leverage RESILIAGE’s local heritage approach and SYNERGIES’ experience with practical training to develop educational programs that enhance disaster awareness, preparedness, and response at all levels of society.
- Communication and stakeholder engagement: SYNERGIES emphasises effective communication with citizens during crises, a focus that complements RESILIAGE’s commitment to heritage-based community resilience. Through innovative communication strategies, the projects aim to foster trust and transparency among local stakeholders.
- Long-term sustainability and knowledge transfer: By combining resources, the projects will create sustainable, adaptable models for DRM, ensuring that local communities are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to respond to future disasters.
