Leveraging Cultural Heritage for Community Resilience in the Face of Climate Change: Insights from the RESILIAGE Project
On 28 October, 9:30–11:30 (CET), RESILIAGE will contribute to the congress “A Bridge to the Future. Connecting Cultural Heritage and Climate Change – Faro Convention’s role in climate resilience and sustainability on its 20th anniversary”, organised by the Polytechnic University of Turin and the University of Turin.
In the dedicated session—“Leveraging Cultural Heritage for Community Resilience in the Face of Climate Change: Insights from the RESILIAGE Project”—the consortium will share early findings and practical approaches showing how heritage assets, local knowledge and place-based participation can strengthen communities before, during and after climate-related disruptions. The discussion will highlight methods for engaging residents and heritage professionals, and explore policy pathways aligned with the spirit of the Faro Convention.
The congress convenes a wide network of regional actors and institutions, including:
Consorzio delle Residenze Reali Sabaude; Ente di Gestione delle Aree Protette dei Parchi Reali; Reggia di Venaria Reale; Stellantis Europe S.p.A.; Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio; Città Metropolitana di Torino; Regione Piemonte; ARPA Piemonte; and Federazione Provinciale Coldiretti.
Why it matters: Climate change is already reshaping landscapes and livelihoods. By treating cultural heritage as a living resource—anchoring identity, memory and local stewardship—RESILIAGE demonstrates how resilience planning becomes more inclusive, actionable and lasting.
We look forward to exchanging with partners and peers in Turin and to bringing these insights back to RESILIAGE’s living labs and communities.
