Community-Centred Approaches in DRM – Insights from RESILIAGE Core Labs
As the frequency and intensity of natural hazards increase due to climate change, the need for inclusive and effective disaster risk management (DRM) strategies is more pressing than ever. The Horizon Europe project RESILIAGE is at the forefront of this challenge, placing communities at the heart of innovative solutions.
In an upcoming webinar, RESILIAGE will spotlight the pioneering work of its CORE Labs, local hubs dedicated to co-creating DRM strategies that draw on local knowledge, cultural heritage, and civic engagement. The session will explore two key phases of the RESILIAGE approach:
Understanding risk through local perspectives
CoreLabs will share insights from their in-depth analyses of local vulnerabilities, hazards, and social networks. By reflecting on lessons learned from past events, they are mapping the specific risk factors that shape each community’s experience of disaster.
Turning insights into action
Building on these findings, the CoreLabs are developing innovative, community-driven strategies to strengthen resilience. From participatory planning to grassroots initiatives, these solutions empower communities to lead their own DRM efforts.
